Relational  Life Parenting

Same Argument. Same Kid. Same Look Across the Room. It’s Not About Bedtime Routines.

You don't disagree about everything. You disagree about this. One of you holds the line, the other lets it slide, and lately it's been happening with the kids right there. Afterward, it isn't really about screen time anymore — it's that your partner just showed your children, and you, that they don't have your back.

Danté Yigael has spent 20+ years working with couples. Not parenting technique — the two people doing the parenting. The Relational Parenting Partnership is a structured program for couples who are still together and want to parent like it. And when there's a teen in the house, Rebekah Yigael, HVL Connect's licensed therapist, works with them directly on a parallel track — so your teen has their own person, not just a set of new rules.

You're Not Bad Parents. You're Both Parenting From Memory.

The method Danté uses is Relational Life Therapy. Its central idea is that under pressure, none of us respond as the adult we actually are. We respond as the child we used to be — running whatever strategy kept us safe growing up. Terry Real calls that the Adaptive Child.

Nowhere does it show up faster than in parenting. Your kid pushes, your pulse goes up, and before you've decided anything, you're already doing it — either exactly what your parents did, or the precise opposite because you swore you'd never.

In most couples it splits into two positions:

The one who holds the line. Usually raised with real structure, sometimes harsh structure. Privately convinced they're the only responsible adult in the house — and quietly resentful about it. That's the grandiose side: if I don't hold this together, nobody will.

The one who softens it. Often raised under exactly that kind of pressure and determined not to repeat it. Feels judged, feels like the weak parent, doesn't say so out loud. That's the shame side: I'm being graded, and I'm failing.

Neither of you is wrong about parenting. You're each solving for a childhood the other one didn't have. Until that's on the table, you'll keep negotiating bedtime and keep losing the argument underneath it.

In the Relational Parenting Partnership, You'll Learn To:

💕   Name the pattern you're actually in — not "we parent differently," but the specific loop that runs in your house and what sets it off

💕   Trace each of your parenting instincts back to where you got them, and tell the difference between a real conviction and an old reflex

💕   Disagree with your partner without doing it in front of your kids — and know what to do in the moment when you already have

💕   Back each other up in real time, including when you think your partner just made the wrong call

💕   Build a written set of parenting agreements the two of you actually built together, instead of a compromise neither of you likes

💕   Hold a limit without needing your partner to rescue you from feeling like the bad guy

💕   Repair with your kids after you get it wrong — which matters more to them than getting it right the first time

💕  Renegotiate the agreement as your kids get older and it stops fitting, without starting the whole fight over

This one takes both of you. Can you commit?

Both partners, in the room, for the whole program. That's the requirement, and it's the part people ask about most.

If one of you is here because the other one asked — that's fine. That's how most of this starts. Danté doesn't need you both to be certain. He needs two people willing to show up and be honest about what's actually happening at home.

Sessions are weekly. Evening and virtual slots exist because two working parents with kids at home is the normal case here, not the exception.

What the Relational Parenting Partnership at HVL Connect Looks Like

Eight weekly 75-minute sessions, with both partners present. Houston + Virtual.

Session one maps the pattern — what happens in your house specifically, and what each of you makes it mean when the other overrides you. The middle sessions trace where your instincts came from and turn that into agreements you both actually agree to. The last sessions are practice: real situations, united front, repair when it slips.

If you have a teen: Rebekah Yigael, HVL Connect's licensed therapist, meets with them one-on-one on a track that runs alongside yours. What your teen says stays between them and Rebekah unless there's a safety concern, and she loops back to you only with your teen's knowledge. Most practices are coaching or therapy. Here you get both, under one roof, without your family starting over with a second provider.

[Investment: confirm before publishing. Also confirm whether the teen sessions are included in the program price or billed separately, and whether that track is opt-in or built into every engagement.] Payment plans available.

💕 You've had the same argument about the same thing more than once this month, and you both already know how it ends

💕 One of you is the limit-setter and the other is the softer one, and it stopped feeling like a style difference a while ago

💕 It's started happening in front of your kids, and they're old enough to notice

💕 You catch yourself parenting exactly like you were raised, or working very hard not to

💕 You've read the books and tried the strategy your partner suggested — it worked for about a week

💕 You're not on the edge of divorce; you just don't want the parenting fights to become the whole marriage

💕 You have a teen who's clearly absorbing the tension, and you'd rather they had their own support than overhear yours

Disclaimer block: This is a coaching program for the two of you as partners. It isn't a child-behavior program — it doesn't diagnose or treat your child, and if your main concern is a younger child's behavioral or developmental needs, a pediatric specialist is the right call, not this. If your teen is in a mental health crisis, that needs dedicated clinical care beyond what a parallel track provides; Danté or Rebekah will say so directly and help you find the right referral. This also isn't co-parenting counseling for separated or divorcing parents.

HEAR FROM PARENTS...

"I was the bad guy in our house and he was the fun one, and honestly I resented both of us for it. What changed wasn't the rules — we barely touched the rules. It was finally understanding why we each landed where we did. Our daughter noticed before we said anything to her. She asked why we stopped arguing in the kitchen."

— Houston couple, parents of two

You Both Learned This Somewhere. You Can Unlearn It Together. Let's Talk.

A free 30-minute conversation. You'll tell Danté what's actually going on at home. He'll be honest about whether this is the right fit and what working together would look like. No pitch, no pressure — and if what you actually need is couples work rather than parenting work, he'll tell you that too.
